Al Milgrom talks comics with C Lue!

October 25th, 2018

The kid from Huntington Woods grew up with a real passion for reading DC Comics. He was creating his own stories by the time he pulled up at the drug store that carried the first appearances of two characters with whom he'd spend many working hours one day: Spider-Man and Mighty Thor.
Sometime after graduating the University of Michigan in 1972, Jim Starlin's old school chum Allen Milgrom would embark on his own comics career. He did some writing over at Warren Publishing. He'd revisit Thor and a new generation of Avengers with Roger Stern in the 80's, inking Thor as drawn by Ron Frenz and written by Tom DeFalco in the 1990s. He wrote and drew the Peter Parker title in 1984, too.

Pat Broderick Part one

October 15th, 2018

Hey, let's talk to Pat Broderick!  He's awesome!

Patrick Broderick was 17 when he answered a cattle call for DC’s new Junior Bullpen project. How lucky was he to step out of the long line and run into Carmine Infantino? Pat drew early appearances of Iron Fist in Marvel Premiere, and later, Captain Marvel, a flame-headed guy called Ghost Rider in a Marvel Team-Up fill-up, and a good run on Micronauts (succeeding Mike Golden, ending with #34, cover date, Oct. 1981) before he started Firestorm back-ups at DC. He later co-created the Nathaniel Adam iteration of Captain Atom, also drawing Batman: Year Three, a terrific revival of Green Lantern, and the inventive Doom 2099. He’s also been an adjunct instructor at the Tampa Bay Art Institute. Pat returned to draw more Green Lantern and various covers for Marvel, also.

Teacher C’s Goodbye Song

August 17th, 2018

I made this song for when I put the student's faces in the 'boat' at the end to say goodbye to one another.  I recorded this with my cast of animal and doll helpers, so I should thank :  Teacher C, Sam the MOnkey, Jabbit RAbbit, Anne the Doll, and of course, Lelly the Elephant (Lellephant!), with a cameo added in the big chorus from the orginal voice of Lelly, my wife Angela DAwn.

Man in the Long Blackappella

April 26th, 2018

We're guests at a Bob Dylan Tribute in my hometown.  I thought of what would make each song special, the right way to deliver them.  Tonight, we ran through "The Man In The Long Black Coat" without the guitar, and 14 minutes or so later, the whistling had straightend out and we were close enough for rock and roll.  We'll be at Schroeder's Courtyard Friday night the 27th, and you can hear Bob Dylan's tunes from 6 pm to nearly 11!

Be true,

C Lue
